1. | Need Analysis in Learning Materials for Enhancing Speaking Skills Perceived by Undergraduate Students [แสดงบทคัดย่อ] [ซ่อนบทคัดย่อ] | |

The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate needs analysis in learning materials for enhancing speaking skills perceived by undergraduate students, and 2) to study additional suggestions. The research samples were 219 TNI students derived through random sampling technique. The Instrument used for data gathering a questionnaire in three major preferences: Vocabulary Learning Preference, Pronunciation Learning Preference and Learning Style Preference. The research findings were as follows: 1) TNI students had overall needs in learning materials for enhancing speaking skills at high level (x =4.32). When considered in each aspect, it was found that the highest level was Pronunciation Learning Preferences (x =4.46), followed by Vocabulary Learning Preferences and Learning Style Preferences (x =4.30, x =4.21 respectively). 2) The opinions and suggestions from the students were as follows: It is important to develop speaking ability through pleasure activities based on each unit lesson; Speaking activities should be exposed in a more natural and less structured way; Teachers should identify the problems which are frequently encountered by the students; and Teachers should select the real life situations as learning topic in each class.

The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate the students’ English problems during their Industrial Placement and 2) to investigate possible learning activities based on a development of Generic skills used in English teaching-learning classroom.
The research samples were 40 students who passed Industrial Placement and enrolled in Academic Reading and Writing course in the third semester, 2012 academic year. The samples were derived from 3 faculties namely Engineering, Business Administration and Information Technology.
The Instruments used for data gathering were an ethnographic interview and trial research project. The activity framework of Generic skills was analyzed through the context of Generic skills in higher education based on teaching-learning methods, techniques and activities.
The research findings were as follows:
1. Speaking skills were the most important problems of the workplace, followed by reading skills, writing skills and listening skills respectively.
2. Research project was used as a trial learning activity to generate the students’ four key competencies of Generic skills: working with others; working with information; working with technology; and learning and development.
3. The students’ opinions were shown as satisfactory attitude. However, the monitoring process of task distribution should be more concerned.

The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate needs of English skill preparation for work readiness, and 2) To study additional suggestions.
The research samples were 150 Business students derived through random sampling technique. The Instrument used for data gathering a questionnaire in three major skills: General ability for work; Professional ability for work; and Career planning and confidence. The research findings were as follows: 1) TNI students had overall opinions at high level (x̄= 4.36). When considered in each aspect, it was found that the highest level was Professional ability for work (x̄=4.39), followed by Career planning and confidence and General ability for work (x̄=4.38,=4.38 respectively); 2) The opinions and suggestions from the students were as follows: It is significance to undertake problem or inquiry-based learning using real-world cases or simulated situations; Placements, internships or work experience are built into the course; Site visits should be arranged regularly; The programs which are focused on self-employment, entrepreneurship or freelancing should be organized; and Students should be encouraged to try placement options in Japan.
