A Study of Satisfaction and Motivation in English Language Learning Based on Communicative Approach for Higher Education Students : The purposes of this research were 1) to study satisfaction and motivation in English language learning based on communicative approach for higher education students 2) to compare students’ satisfaction and motivation in English language learning according to students’ gender, academic year and faculty, and 3) to gather supplemental suggestions. Research samples were 368 higher education students in second semester of 2016 academic year, derived through simple random sampling technique. The instruments used for gathering the data were the rating-scale and open-ended questionnaire. The statistics used for analyzing the data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and content analysis. The research findings were as follows: 1. Satisfaction and motivation in English language learning based on communicative approach for higher education students as a whole were at high level. When considered in each aspect, it was found that their satisfaction and motivation in English language learning based on communicative approach was at high level. 2. The students with different genders, academic years, faculties showed that there were no significant differences in the total and each aspect. 3. TNI students had supplemental suggestions as following: teaching hours should be extended in English classes; instructors should focus more on speaking in classroom and the teacher should have various activities in class.
